Tain Silver

Tain has been known as a centre of silver-smithing for more than three centuries. Over this period of time the silversmiths of Tain have been renowned for their craftsmanship. Continuing in this tradition, Tain Silver offers the finest quality pieces in hallmarked silver.

Since 1836 when the Assay Office was established in Edinburgh, Tain Silver is the first silversmithing business in Scotland to have been granted special permission to again use the town mark in the traditional way.

Tain Silver has taken its source of inspiration from the intricate designs of the richly decorated gospels of the Celts. The enigmatic Pictish symbol stones, unique to ancient Pictland, also give simpler but beautiful zoomorphic and stylised forms. On the same theme, our range carries new, exciting designs by Doug Scott.

Tain Silver presents a wide selection of high quality pieces, which come supplied with information cards and attractive presentation boxes.
