Performances, Drama, Opera and Events

There is a thriving social life in Tain throughout the year. In the spring there are performances of light opera and oratorio from the Tain Garrick singers and Tain Choral Group. Throughout the year there are drama performances and Tain's very own pantomime group. The Tain and District Field Club holds meetings and outings from autumn to spring, and new members are always welcome.
For a list of groups, which welcome members and exist in Tain to provide a thriving social and recreational life see the section under Community Groups.
During the summer months there is the Tain Gala, which includes daily family based activities throughout one week. Taking part are groups from overseas, singers, dancers and entertainers. Scottish evenings, float parades, pipe band displays, fancy dress events, children's parties and picnics all combine to make this a fabulous time to be in the town.
The Tain Highland Gathering is held in early August and again makes for a great family day out.
Every Friday during the summer months a Pipe band plays in Tain High Street.
